procedure to fuse the lumbar spine. It involves placing a piece
of bone in the interspace between two vertebral bodies, to promote
fusion, that is the growing together of one vertebral body to the
next. The bone is inserted from the posterior approach (the
incision is in the back of the patient), and therefore the name posterior
lumbar interbody fusion. |
