there is mass effect on one side of the brain, which may be due to
stroke ( and subsequent swelling), hemorrhage, or tumor, then there
is often an accompanying midline shift. The middle of the brain
is shifted to the side of the skull away from the lesion, and this
is easily seen on a CT or MRI scan. |
