magnetic resonance imaging scanner

The magnetic resonance imaging scanner is a sophisticated machine which allows physicians to see the body as a sequential series of slices.  The "bore" or with of the cylinder into which the patients pass during the scan, varies depending upon the machine.  "Open magnets" are accommodating to patients who have difficulty with enclosed spaces, but the quality of the images may vary. Seen here is a magnetic resonance scanner, and the technician operating the console.  Note the warning signs, which caution patients with pacdmakers to stay clear of the strong magnetic fields.
