Using
this technique, radioactive implants are used to deliver high doses
of radiation to a tumor while minimizing radiation to the surrounding
brain. The radiation is delivered in one of several ways.
- iodine 125 radioactive pellets
- insertion of catheters containing
radioactive iodine 125
- instillation of radioactive liquid
